Please note that we are closed for the season except for workshops in our indoor space directly below our Brooklyn Farm. We will resume hosting weekly open houses and ticketed tours beginning May 2018!

Ticketed tours take place every week from May - October. Lead by one of our dynamic & knowledgeable staff members, our ticketed tours are a great way to experience our farm. Come visit, buy some honey, and take a picture of yourself atop the world’s largest green roof farm

Tours must be booked in advance, and cost $15 per person. Tours last approximately 45 minutes each, and are intended for individuals and groups of no more than four (4) individuals; for larger groups, please see below to book a private tour. Brooklyn Grange is committed to making sure all members of our community can attend tours regardless of income level. Please scroll down for more info on reduced or waived fees.

  • Wednesdays at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, 10AM & 11:30AM
  • Saturdays at Long Island City, 11AM & 12:30PM

We book private tours of both farms Mondays through Fridays during business hours through November 15th by request. More information about private tours is available here.

We do not offer apiary tours, as our hives are dispersed across several roofs around the cities, but there are beehives on both of our farms. If you are particularly interested in the bees, please let your tour guide know and she or he will make sure to bring the group by the hives. For a more in-depth look at bees and beekeeping, check our events calendar for upcoming beekeeping and honeybee-related classes and workshops.

Youth programming at the farm is available through City Growers, a registered 501c3  non-profit dedicated to connecting urban communities with agriculture, food and environment through educational farm explorations.  If you are seeking to bring a school or youth group to the farm, please CLICK HERE to request a visit with their amazing team of educators

Want to see more than just the farm?  Check out Get Up and Ride‘s fun, insider bicycle tours, and sign up for a Classic Tour of Brooklyn, which includes a brief stop at our Navy Yard farm. Or, visit Turnstile Tours to check out their guided explorations of the Brooklyn Navy Yard and beyond; their Urban Ecology Tour also includes a quick pop-in on the Navy Yard roof! Continuing education credits are available to architecture professionals for participation in the Urban Ecology Tour.  CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS

Brooklyn Grange will always consider reducing or waiving our tour fee should it be a hardship. We recognize that everyone’s situation is unique and understand that there are circumstances beyond income, but please consider that we have our own bottom line to hit, and an ecosystem whose health depends on the financial sustainability of our organization. Please consider your privilege (ie. education, generational wealth, parental and community support, partnership status and other circumstances that may offer you a safety net which allows more resilience when financial setbacks occur)* before reaching out to us at to request reduced or waived admission. Note that we we may ask for proof of income before we are able to make a determination of eligibility.

Additionally, we welcome visitors at our weekly FREE Saturday open houses, held mid-May through October at our flagship farm in LIC, Queens, from 11am till 4pm. If you avail yourself of the information we've posted on our website, particularly our About and FAQ pages, as well as the many media interviews we've given over the years, and the book we've written about our business, you should be able to give yourself an informed self-guided tour of the farm during one of these visits.
