We’ve asked Matthew Katakis, Queens native and the man behind some of the best BBQ in town, back for another round of his pulled pork feast to open our Butcher Paper season! Come kickoff the start of summer with this farm classic!
His restaurant, Butcher Bar is an old school Butcher Shop with modern day ideals & a BBQ Smoke House restaurant located right down the road in Astoria, Queens. Soak in some early summer sun and sip local brews and wine, and eat to your heart’s content, all against the unforgettable backdrop of the Manhattan skyline.
This one's not for the faint of heart! We always eat with our hands at Butcher Paper Dinners, but this time around you'll be donning a fashionable pair of gloves and pulling your own pork. Make a sandwich or eat it straight, the choice is yours. Get ready to get a little dirty... but don't worry, we're here to help you clean up when it's over.
3pm - 4pm: Snacks, drinks, explore the farm
4pm: Dinner is served!

Kings County Brewers Collective
Kings County Brewers Collective (KCBC) is a production brewery and taproom located in Bushwick in Brooklyn, NY. Owned and operated by a trio of brewers (Pete Lengyel, Tony Bellis, and Zack Kinney), KCBC produces a wide variety of beers and styles, rotating recipe design between the three brewers and collaborating frequently with others in the community. KCBC is also the first brewery to operate in the historically-beer-centric Bushwick neighborhood since 1976.
Brooklyn Oenology Winery (pron. ‘EN-ology’ or simply ‘BOE’), is a locally-focused winery based in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, founded in 2006 by winemaker Alie Shaper. BOE extends the fundamental idea of terroir, which is essentially a combination of factors that create a wine’s sense of “place,” by incorporating the local agricultural, creative culinary, and art worlds.
In addition to sourcing New York grapes, BOE draws upon the Brooklyn and greater New York areas to create its identity. Each wine’s label showcases contemporary art by a Brooklyn artist and features a new piece of work for each vintage. They’re not just for viewing; they are double-layer, easy-to-peel stickers, so the customer can preserve the artwork. The tasting room also sells products from other artisanal New York state producers.
Leopard and Pear is a collaboration of Erin and Eric- both celebrated chefs who earned their stripes in the pastry world. Together, they’ve teamed up to create a premiere dessert and pastry company offering unique, interactive and experiential tables. They also have an 18th century inspired tea cafe and garden opening in summer- The Awkward Scone- where house blended herbal teas, fresh pastries and sandwiches all dance with subtle infusion of aromatic herbs and florals.
