In this calming workshop, performance artist and natural dyer Coco Villa, will guide us on an exploration of our connection to the world of plants through intuitive natural bundle dyeing. This practice interrupts routine, embraces irregularity, and deepens our relationship to the natural world by creating personal rituals for self-care as we transform a silk scarf into our very own sacred heirloom.
We will dye and paint with frozen, fresh and dried plant matter to create breathtaking cosmic patterns on silk scarves. Through gently soaking plant matter, we will learn how to treat fabrics to make them colorfast, extract color from natural dyestuffs, and experiment with advanced botanical dyeing techniques you can all do at home!
