Come celebrate Earth Day with us as we look to brighten up more spaces with all things green and lush! This concrete jungle can only offer so much outdoor greenery, but there are endless possibilities with our indoor spaces. We know indoor gardening can present challenges of its own so we’ve designed a workshop to walk you through the basics and not so basics to get you started on creating and maintaining your own thriving indoor plant paradise!
Ceci de Corral, our Design/Build Director and all around indoor horticultural specialist, will teach you everything you need to know about soil, light and watering needs for your indoor garden. We will examine what conditions are favorable for different types of plants, their care requirements, and steps for addressing common challenges. We’ll also discuss varied propagation techniques from stem and leaf cuttings to division. During the workshop each participant will re-pot a small plant or two in a terra-cotta pot based on their personal lighting situation and aesthetic tastes.
Let’s green this city one windowsill at a time!
ABOUT CECI DE CORRAL
Hailing from the tropics of Puerto Rico and Miami, Cecilia "Ceci" de Corral moved to New York to study design at Parsons in 2007. Since then she has spent time teaching at schools across Brooklyn and Queens, spreading the importance of art, growing veggies, and cooking good meals with the youth of New York. Ceci has committed herself to making the city a greener and happier place. Ceci now works designing, building, and maintaining gardens, and can typically be found hustling materials around, dead heading flowers, and researching plants. When she's not busy pruning our city's landscape she can be found baking bread at home in Bed-Stuy or going for long walks (always noting which tree pits or sidewalk planters should get a good pruning).
