In this Introduction to Green Walls course we will dig into site identification, design principles including prime components, and basic irrigation techniques. We will study varied systems including Brooklyn Grange's custom design system as well as pre fabricated systems and the pros and cons of all, from design to health and wellness standards.
Cecilia de Corral, manager of our Design and Installations program and in-house horticulturalist, will teach you everything you need to know about soil, light, and watering needs for a basic green wall and will do an overview of what plants are most appropriate for this type of installation.
- To assess existing green wall designs and identify pros and cons of various systems.
- To develop basic ability to identify appropriate plants and systems for indoor and outdoor green walls.
- To identify key factors that guide site assessments related to green wall design.
- To understand essential challenges and opportunities related to irrigation, maintenance, and long-term health of green walls.
This course offers 2 LU AIA Credits
