Event Description
Join Dr. Maria Geyman for an introduction to naturopathic nutrition with focus on the connection between separate organ systems, the building blocks of nutrition, and the relationship between food and bodies. 

This class will include a basic overview of the major organ systems with a special focus on the nervous, immune, digestive systems and how they are connected. Dr. Geyman will walk us through a basic understanding of how our bodies use and transform the food we eat every day into everything from muscle to neurotransmitters, proving that what we eat is largely what we are made of. The lecture will also include the importance of microbes and fermented foods. 

Eating is beautiful, nourishing, and very much a political act. The body is a connected system impacted by environmental, social, genetic, and emotional forces. Understanding food and being able to visualize what happens inside of the body can help guide informed decisions about health, disease, and well-being 

About Dr. Maria Geyman
Dr. Maria Geyman graduated from National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR with a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and is currently completing her postdoctoral naturopathic medical residency at Remede Naturopathics in New York City.

She studies the interaction between the endocrine, immune, and neurologic systems. In practice, this includes chronic disease ranging from thyroid and autoimmune conditions to anxiety, depression, and insomnia.

She has special training in transgender healthcare and provides naturopathic care to this medically underserved community.
