This is where it all began folks. Seven years ago, when Butcher Paper Dinners were just a sparkle in our eye, rockstar chef Will Horowitz of the East Village's Duck's Eatery signed on to serve up our very first Crab Boil.
We knew we liked Chef Will right away when we jokingly suggested that we bring the crabs to the table in a wheelbarrow, and he was on board. This guy -- this was our kinda guy -- and he still is. And did we mention, he can cook! With a Southeast-Asian-Cajun-influence and a decidedly-DIY vibe, Horowitz is a grower of mushrooms, a smoker of meats, a curer, pickler, fermentor and just generally a man who plays with his food.
This is his seventh annual Butcher Paper dinner, but we’ve officially decided to stop counting! Chef Horowitz will be slinging fresh oysters, followed by a bountiful crab boil piled high along our enormous reclaimed-oak communal table. Stunning views of Long Island City and the Manhattan skyline will present a little eye candy to offset the savory feast.
There will be sweet tunes, local brews and we’re especially excited to be serving mead for the first time in Butcher Paper history! Basically, it’s gonna be one heck of a party.

BUTCHER PAPER DINNER
The Butcher Paper Dinners are a series of fun, sustainable and inventive dinner parties held June through September at our flagship rooftop in LIC, centered around the farm's massive, reclaimed white oak communal table down the length of which we roll butcher paper. We engage a rotating lineup of the city's most innovative chefs who bring their unique culinary stylings to play with fresh, seasonal produce, serving family-style, eat-with-your-hands meals directly atop the paper-lined table, all of which is composted onsite after the event. This style of hands-on dining allows guests to really engage with their food -- and their neighboring diners -- for a dinner event that's outside the box. You won’t find napkins or utensils at these dinners, rather we opt for a good old fashion hose down as we aim to create as little waste as possible.
Kings County Brewers Collective (KCBC) is a production brewery and taproom located in Bushwick in Brooklyn, NY. Owned and operated by a trio of brewers (Pete Lengyel, Tony Bellis, and Zack Kinney), KCBC produces a wide variety of beers and styles, rotating recipe design between the three brewers and collaborating frequently with others in the community. KCBC is also the first brewery to operate in the historically-beer-centric Bushwick neighborhood since 1976.
ABOUT MUTINY MEAD
Mutiny Distribution is the world's first alcohol distributor exclusively focused on session (draft) and traditional style mead. Comprised of a rowdy group of freedom fighters, Mutiny is the juncture in which the articulation of craftsmanship and the voice of the shelves coalesce. With the French Revolution as inspiration, Mutiny intends to shepherd a coup d’état within the craft beverage market and bring this storied libation to the masses.
For those that have always felt the commodity laden alcohol industry has to have more to offer, recognize the healthy characteristics and positive environmental impact of mead, or are simply seeking something novel and avant-garde, this is your category. At Mutiny, we're not storming the Bastille, we're storming the bar.
