Beekeeping 101: Hive Inspection

50.00

Curious to know what goes on in a beehive? Want to know how to tell the difference between a queen, a worker bee, and a drone? Join Brooklyn Grange’s very own head beekeeper Geraldine Simonis as she inspects one of the farm’s rooftop hives!

Discover what all of the buzz is about as Geraldine explains why honeybees are important pollinators, the thrills and challenges of urban beekeeping, and how you could get set up with your own beehive.

From there, you’ll suit up and get to observe a beehive inspection! We'll be on the lookout for a healthy queen, bees busy making honey, pollen stores and more.Expect to be fascinated, in awe and possibly fall in love with these little ladies by the time the workshop is over. You'll start to notice honeybees all over the city once you know what to look for!

Class takes place on Sunday, June 2nd at 2pm.
