With our design and installation services we seek to expand the growing space in New York City. As a way of expanding the seasons in which growing is possible, Brooklyn Grange has designed and installed greenhouses in a variety of spaces. In 2013, Brooklyn Grange designed and constructed a 150 sq ft greenhouse for a community garden in the Queens neighborhood of Cypress Hills. The greenhouse includes a solar-powered ventilation system and propane heat source, and is completely off of the electrical grid. The project was undertaken in partnership with the Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation, and Brooklyn Grange led a team of community volunteers to erect the greenhouse. In 2014 Brooklyn Grange installed a 450 sq ft greenhouse in Brooklyn’s Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood, for the Mercy Home adult education program.
