Brooklyn Grange, the world's leading soil-based rooftop farming business, is seeking a positive, energetic, people-oriented team member to work as an Event Captain in the execution of all events on our rooftops in Brooklyn, NY and Queens, NY.  Events typically take place all through the week, including many evenings and weekends, though Event Captains’ schedules may vary from week to week. Weekend and late night availability is required of this position.

The Event Captain will work closely with a small, dedicated events team. The Event Captain will report directly to the Events Manager. Event Captains should be personable and excellent communicators. The ideal candidate demonstrates good judgment and maturity, and gets along well with everyone, possessing excellent customer service skills as well as managerial skills.  They are a true "People Person." We are seeking individuals who have experience with FOH service, events, hospitality, retail, or sales, who take pleasure in providing an unforgettable experience for guests. Calm under pressure, the Event Captain should be able to multi-task, and quickly adapt to and accommodate requests from a guest, vendor, or supervisor. They are respectful in all interactions with colleagues, guests, and partner organizations, and take pride in upholding Brooklyn Grange's culture of positivity, friendliness, and professionalism. While experience working on a farm or other outdoor venue is not required, the Captain should be prepared to adapt to the unique nature of our space.  We expect all team members to be able to work outside in all weather, lift heavy loads repeatedly, and spend long periods standing. Responsibilities will also include email correspondence with potential and existing clients, site visits, and general client relations.

Candidates should be able to  commit to a full season on the farm, from approximately mid May - mid October, ranging from 30-40 hours/week. Hours skew more heavily towards the early summer through early fall months.
