Erin grew up in Massachusetts, where her family operated a small livestock farm focused on bolstering local food systems. That led her to study Animal Science at UMass Amherst, one of America's first agricultural schools. After graduation, she shifted her focus to the human animal and, drawing upon the hospitality skills she'd honed over many summers in Cape Cod's tourist-driven economy, dove into the world of restaurant management. Since joining the Brooklyn Grange team for the 2017 season, Erin continues to delight in sharing her passion for local, sustainable food systems with visitors to the farm. She leads farm tours and hosts workshops, provides accounting and admin support–in other words, she does a little of everything. She hopes this broad view of a small business' operations will help prepare her to one day start her own oyster farm, so that she can marry her professional passion for improving the ecosystem through food with her dream of living as a high functioning beach bum.
