CSA PROGRAM

Brooklyn Grange CSA
Becoming a CSA member means a weekly supply of freshly picked produce straight from our farm! What’s included varies throughout the season based on ripeness and flavor. Periodically, we may include special items such as flowers, hand-made farm gear (tote bags and t-shirts), and our own jarred goods like hot sauce and salsa verde.
***OUR 2013 CSA PROGRAM IS FULLY ENROLLED AND WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS. PLEASE EMAIL US AT INFO [AT] BROOKLYNGRANGFARM.COM TO BE PLACED ON THE WAITLIST FOR 2014.***
SAMPLE CSA SHARES:
New members frequently ask what they can expect to find in their shares. Below are sample shares taken from our 2012 membership records. You’ll notice that in spring, shares tend to trend towards leafier greens like salad mixes, kale and herbs (and therefore tend to be lighter in weight/value), while in midsummer nightshades and cucurbits rule and fall sees more root veggies. Our shares are extremely seasonal to ensure that we’re offering a balanced diet as mother nature intended it! We recommend them for one person who cooks vegetarian meals at home most nights, two people who cook omnivorous meals 3-4 nights a week or to supplement the shopping needs of a larger residence.
SPRING/EARLY SUMMER SAMPLE SHARE: A bunch of radishes, a bunch of hakurei turnips, a bunch of baby Pac Choi, a bag of salad mix, a bunch of kale, a bag of spinach and a bunch of mixed herbs (thyme, mint, sage).
MID-SUMMER SAMPLE SHARE: A bunch of kale, a bunch of chard, a bunch of mixed herbs (thyme, mint, sage), a bunch of pesto mix (basil, opal basil, parsley, mint), sweet peppers, a couple of mixed heirloom eggplant, a head lettuce, a bag of salad mix, a bag of purslane, a head or two of heirloom garlic and a couple cucumbers.

We will be there in a few weeks for sure! Stay tuned to brooklyngrangefarm.com/markets for our opening date! Thanks!
Do you guys plan to set up at the Sunday McGolrick farmers market again this year? If not, I will certainly consider the CSA! Thanks.
Do you have a flower program? Are your pick ups flexible? Do you have a combined or flexible program with flowers and produce?

Hey Cristina, you are welcome to sign up with a friend and alternate pick-up weeks!
Do you offer split shares?
Hi there! We piloted a low-income program last season but it wasn’t very successful. We may try to revitalize it in the future and will definitely keep everyone posted if we do! Thanks!
Do you offer subsidized shares for economically disadvantaged families? Or is a revolving loan fund in place? If so, I’d love to spread the word.
Yes, absolutely! Hopefully we’ll have a good season in 2013 — 2012 was rough for tomatoes (too much rain!) but we managed to grow some good ones nonetheless. Thanks, Stephanie!
Hi,
Amazing stuff your doing!
The season sample info above doesn’t say tomatoes in any of them.. do you not include those delicious looking tomatoes?? Since you say that’s your largest crop elsewhere on your site I expected to see them in there..
Thinking about a share, and that’s why I ask!
Thanks,
Stephanie
Juliana, send us your name and email address to info [at] brooklyn grange farm dot com and we’ll give you a heads-up when we start registering folks within BNY!
Gah, thanks for the heads up, Ceren! Just saw that, will try to fix it now!!
You really need to remove text-enhance from this page – it’s the tool that highlights random words and then pops up an ad, or redirects to an advertising page.
This is worse than usual on your page, because people are VERY likely to click on the ones reading “REGISTRATION” and “CONFIRM YOUR”. They are both linking to external advertisement site.
Hi, I work in building 3 in the Navy Yard and can’t wait for you to have a CSA upstairs! When should I check back to see when the shares are available? I don’t want to miss out on your or any other CSA opportunity.
Thanks! Juliana
Hey Phuong, we’re actually going to be doing our LIC market on Saturdays this year, not on Weds or Thurs, so that’s the only pickup window for the CSA. Let us know if your schedule changes, we’d love to have you in the program!
Hi. I can’t always pick up on Sats. Can I pick up on Wed or Thur when LIC market is open? – Phuong
