Seeds Sown!
A couple of nights ago we planted about 5,000 seeds (tomatoes, eggplant, onions, herbs, etc) so that we’ve got an army of seedlings ready to transplant on the roof once the last frost is passed in mid-April. Thanks to the dozen or so volunteers who came out to help get the little guys in soil, and to Roberta’s for letting us use the army tent.
Go Seeds!

i love seeds.
hi there. out of curiosity, how many seeds to you put in each little pod pot things? i want to plant, have never planted before, and am curious about how to do things. any help would be great.
We put about one seed in each “cup”. Once the seeds germinate and the plants start to poke out of the soil, we go back and put an additional seed in the cups that aren’t blooming. Sometimes with small seeds we end up with more than one plant per cup, and that’s ok, but will slow us down once it’s time to transplant out in the field.
thank you! of course, now i think i put too much water in this experiment. it’s too wet in there. i’m trying to let some of it evaporate. i feel like i’m a failure right out of the gate! that’s okay, though, when time comes, i’ll just get plantlings if my seeds don’t sprout.
i love this blog. it makes me happy.
