Planting Seeds in Brooklyn

Basil Seedlings from last spring.

Welcome to Brooklyn Grange. We’re a small team of Brooklyn residents working together to launch a commercially-viable roof farm. Today we’ve got a plan – a seed – and a lot of expertise. Next summer, we’ll have a one-acre rooftop farm.

Please check in with our website and watch as our farm germinates and blooms, and feel free to contact us about volunteer and investment opportunities.

I visited the rooftop farm in Greenpoint on its final open day to public this summer. What exactly is the difference between this and the proposed grange?

The rooftop farm in Greenpoint is only 6,000 square feet, and ours is going to be at least 20,000 square feet. Ben, who founded the farm in Greenpoint, is working with us this season to develop a farm that will be fiscally self-sustaining – you can only do this with a larger farm. The farm in Greenpoint will continue to operate and keep up the amazing work that it’s been doing, and our farm is taking a new direction on a larger scale.

    Thanks for the clarification!!
